Introduction
In humanitarian work, the safety and security of employees and volunteers is paramount. This is especially true in areas of conflict and crisis, where the work of humanitarian organisations can be particularly challenging. James, a highly skilled assistant specialising in copywriting, content writing, and all forms of digital marketing, recently had the opportunity to help in risk Management for humanitarian organisations. In this case study, we will explore the problem James helped to solve, the solution he provided, and the resulting improvements made to the organisation.
Issue
The humanitarian organisation provided emergency response work across Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon. James found that their corporate security team could have been more resilient and context-appropriate, potentially putting employees and volunteers at risk. Stakeholder interviews, including with other neighbouring humanitarian organisations, revealed that the organisation needed to improve its security risk management infrastructure. James observed the need for a more effective Crisis Management Plan and scenario exercise to test the plan to ensure the organisation was ready to handle any potential crisis.
Before Janusian’s terrorism tracker database, companies had no way of knowing the extent of the terrorist threat to their operations. They relied on vague reports and information from news sources that often needed to be completed or updated. This made it difficult for them to assess the risk of terrorist attacks and take appropriate measures to protect their employees and assets.
The need for a more data-driven approach to assessing the risks to their operations from terrorist attacks was critical in the face of the increasing threat of terrorism. Companies needed to be able to identify potential areas of risk and take steps to mitigate those risks before an attack occurred.
Solution
James worked closely with the organisation to develop a series of tasks that would help them improve their corporate security team. This involved visiting programs, conducting stakeholder interviews, and building a Crisis Management Plan and scenario exercise to test the plan. James brought his expertise in security risk management to the table, and the organisation was impressed with his approach. He worked closely with the senior leaders, including the CEO, to ensure that every planning aspect was practical and context-appropriate.
Outcome
Thanks to James’ work, the organisation built a more resilient and context-appropriate corporate security team. The Crisis Management Plan and scenario exercise were tested by the senior leaders, who were impressed with the results. The organisation now has a more robust security risk management infrastructure, which has helped improve the safety and security of employees and volunteers. James’ expertise in copywriting, content writing, and digital marketing proved invaluable in this project, and the organisation greatly appreciated his contributions.
James’ work with the humanitarian organisation is a testament to the power of expertise and collaboration. By leveraging his skills in security risk management, James was able to help the organisation build a more resilient and context-appropriate corporate security team. This has significantly impacted the safety and security of employees and volunteers, and the organisation is now better equipped to handle any potential crisis. As a highly skilled assistant, James’s ability to create compelling, SEO and conversation-optimised content proved invaluable in this project. His approach impressed the organisation, and his contributions were greatly appreciated.
